Be Right Back

I'm going away for a couple of days. I'll be back on on Monday, so be sure to come back then! Bye!

Murder in the Waters

A turtle that was released into a country park in Wales has been caught. He is called Snappy and, coincidentally, is a snapping turtle.
He was first spotted 17 years ago when he was 25cm. long but now he's 60cm. long! He has grown this after feeding on ducks and moorhens.
He's now living in the Tortoise Trust rescue sanctuary in west Wales.
Please comment.
Thank you.

Dan-Yr-Ogof pictures

During the last couple of weeks of the Summer Holidays, we went to Dan-Yr-Ogof. My dad wanted to see the caves. There was also an animal place. Here are some pictures from there. Enjoy.

A rhea sitting down.
A donkey.
A pair of swans.
A duckling.
A very woolly sheep!

Some goats.

A sleepy goat.

A rabbit.

A manas.

A duck (I've forgotten the species).

A rhea feeling peckish.

Albino Aussie

A rare albino koala is being helped by nurses in Australia. He's called Mick, and is one of the very few left in the country.
When police found him, he was partially blind and he had to have an operation. But he is now doing well. He has been released into a Top Secret location so he can't be stolen.
I hope everything goes well for him. Please comment on what you think about this amazing recovery. Thank you.

Bluetongue has Struck

The disease bluetongue has come to Britain. It is carried by midge flys (right). The disease started off in South Africa, but has quickly made its way up to northern Europe. It has infected a farm in Ipswich. But don't worry, it can't affect humans! However, it usually affects animals such as sheep and cows, as well as deer. The flys can travel about 1-1.2 miles per day, but if its windy, they can travel up to 124 miles!

Only one Highland cow has caught the disease, but all the other animals are being tested. The disease has also created havoc in Holland, Belgium, Germany and France.

This country has been through a lot of diseases recently, with six cases of Foot and Mouth.

Wolly Warriors

William and Harry are Peruvian Alpacas. They have been brought in to a farm in Cornwall to make the Hens feel safer.
Alpacas are mainly used on farms in Australia & New Zealand, where they are very loyal and protective. They are just like that here in Britain, too!
A farm spokesman had this to say, "We know that happy Hens lay the tastiest eggs and for that reason, we recruited the Alpacas.
"They are great company for the birds and will not only ensure they feel safe and sound, but fully entertained too."
Please comment on what you think about this. Thank you.

Friendly Dolphin

This is not about the Baiji. A Dolphin is being really friendly with boat crews in South West England.
He has been named Findol, and is a hit with everyone. One crew member said, "He was very friendly, he came right up against the boat and let us stroke him."
This is unusual, but not unheard of. Please comment on what you think about this. Thank you.

Daring Dogs

The other day, many Helicopter Rescue Dogs performed a display in Italy.
These dogs are Newfoundlands, and they're really soft! I was lucky enough to stroke one during the latest Bank Holiday.
It takes three years to train one; but they are a real help! They can go where Humans can't.
A man called Gilles said this about them, "The jump was amazing, it made a strong impression on me. The dog was incredible, very calm. I was amazed at how calm it was. It was wonderful."

IMPORTANT.5

Hitbob & Cloak have now both earned themselves automatic C4s. This is due to getting fake IP addresses to post while they were banned. It is not acceptable.

Also, the URL of this site has been changed. This is due to Cloak cyber-bullying me. I will not allow it on the cbox. He probably won't be able to find this now.

Praise goes to people like Mark & Bad Wolf who always obey the rules.

And if you don't like me doing this, then tough. It is my site, so maybe you should find somewhere else to go if you don't like my way of taking command; it is mine after all.

Sunday 16 September 2007

IMPORTANT.4

Hitbob is now on C1 for spamming. His ban will end on Monday 24th September 2007.

The consequence board will be cleared at New Year. But if you are serving a ban then, you won't be cleared.

Dead or Alive?

Scientists have claimed that the Baiji is extinct. But this is not the first time. So what is going on?

Well, nobody knows. Is the Baiji dead or alive? I hope it's alive. Do you? Please comment your views.

Hi Mazumba!

Above is Mazumba. She is very rare. Yesterday (Friday 7th August 2007) she went on show. She is a thirteen day old (at the time of posting) White Rhino. She is the first one born at Blair Drummond Safari Park near Stirling.
She is cute, don't you think?

The Oak Bug

Oak trees aren't getting ill, but they're being eaten away by Brown Tail Moth Caterpillars. This is threatening many parts of the U.K. Forests such as the legendary Sherwood Forest are effected by these bugs, which means extra patrols all round.
But the Caterpillars also have poisonous hairs which can kill humans. So if you down to the woods today you'll be sure of a big surprise...

The Failing Wildlife of Africa

Ecologists are concerned about the state of the Nation Parks in Africa. Lots of species of large mammals are declining.

Tim Caro and Paul Scholte wrote, "For years, wildlife managers and biologists in Africa have known that large mammals were disappearing outside reserves.

"But now a raft of studies are showing that we have moved beyond this to the next step - we are losing species from many of Africa's national parks.

"What the new data show is even relatively well-organised protected areas cannot be relied on as long-lasting conservation tools."

A lot of this is down to poaching.

Don't do it Poland!

Some of Poland's best wetlands are under-threat. The Rospuda River in the north-east of the country has really clear waters, and it is perfect for wildlife.

But this could change. There are plans to destroy this haven and make a motorway bridge across it.

The Polish Society for the Protection of Birds (O.T.O.P.) says the area is home to two types of rare eagles as well as buzzards, kingfishers and other rare species.

Please comment on what you think about this.
Thank you.

Web of Giants

A giant web has been found in Texas. A group of Spiders came together to make this web that is the size of two football pitches!
Park worker, Donna Garde, had this to say, "It was so white it looked like fairyland. Now it's filled with so many mosquitoes that it's turned a little brown."
Even though this is rare, it has happened before. Experts are meeting there to find out what species made it.
Many people are too scared to see it, but are you?
Please comment.
Thank you.

Pampered Pooch

Meet Trouble. The other day he was left $12 million in his owner's will! Lucky dog.
Please comment on what you think about this love.
Thank you.

Hello Again?

Remember this post? Well it may not be true. This is because a Chinese man called Zeng Yujiang has claimed that he has spotted one and caught it on camera. He said, "I never saw such a big thing in the water before so I filmed it.
"It was about 1000 metres away and jumped out of the after several times."
If this is a Baiji, it's great news! It means they're not extinct after all! But we'll have to wait and see if this footage is of one.
What do you think about this? Please comment. Thank you.
